Shromani Dera Sant Pura Nangali Sahib-poonch (J&K State – India) is a spiritual institute established as per edicts of Tenth Master, shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji to exalted souls-the Sants. The mission of the Dera is to spread goodwill among the population as per teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, spiritual upliftment of local population in general and sikhs in particular.

After 1947, large numbers of people were displaced in this part of the country and they were living in very poor conditions as they had lost their property due to displacement. The spiritual Head of the Dera identified the cause of economic backwardness as illiteracy and lack of professional training. The Dera came to their rescue and started establishing educational and Dastkari institutes. First School was established in Tral (Kashmir), followed by a boys hostel at Jammu where students from far off places would stay to pursue their Education in Schools and Colleges. Two Dastkari Ashrams were established, one at Baramulla (Kashmir) and another at Jammu (Sant Mela Singh Dastkari Ashram-Digiana).

Guru Harkrishan Public School was established at Nanak Nagar-Jammu. A branch of Guru Harkrishan Public School was also established at Poonch city. The other institutes of Education were MMS Public School, Simbal-Jammu, MBS College of Engineering and Technology at Babliana-Jammu and Sant Mela Singh College of Education at Digiana-Jammu. All the above mentioned institutes are working under the aegis of Sant Manjit Singh Trust-Digiana-Jammu. These institutes are serving the population of Jammu and Kashmir state irrespective of region, cast, creed or religion and imparting quality education to the students with a view to make them good human beings and good professionals, leading towards a healthy and prosperous society.
